Commercial and Industrial Solar Activity - FAQs
The VEU program provides upfront discounts for the installation of commercial and industrial solar photovoltaic systems that are between 30 kilowatts (kW) to 200 kW in size.
The FAQ document below provide answers to common questions about the Commercial and Industrial Solar Activity (Part 47), including:
- Eligible sites.
- System compliance and requirements.
- Greenhouse gas abatement calculations.
- Eligibility of different installations (extensions to existing systems and installing systems in stages).
- Interaction with Project-based Activities (PBAs).
- Activity implementation.
The FAQ document also provides example installation scenarios and whether they are eligible for discounts under the Part 47 Activity. These scenarios have been developed based on common installation queries received by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
Induction cooktop new product applications
The VEU has a pilot activity – Part 46 – Induction cooktop and freestanding combined induction cooking products.
Products under this activity must be listed on the Secretary’s list of eligible products to qualify for this activity. The department offered two separate tranches for stakeholders to submit a request for a new induction cooktop to be added to the approved product list.
These tranches are now closed, and the department is currently not accepting new product applications.
The department will provide an update on the future of the induction cooktop activity in October 2025.
Updated product list
On 8 September 2025, the product list was amended a second time to include additional induction cooktop products. The induction cooktop product list has now been updated below to reflect these changes.
The notice of product listing, as stipulated under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Regulations 2018, can be found below.
The full induction cooktop product list can be found below.
