Why should tradespeople deliver the VEU program?
More business, more money
Don’t miss out on a chance to bring in more work. Victorians are looking for discounted energy efficient and electrification solutions, and this can mean more income for your business.
Steady work for the future
The VEU program is here to stay until 2030. Position your business now to secure long-term work by delivering in-demand upgrades.
Stay ahead of the game
Stand out from the competition. With the VEU program, you can offer discounted energy efficient products, giving your business an edge in the market.
No extra training needed
If you are already a licenced plumber or electrician for a particular upgrade activity, there is no additional training required.
Eligibility for installers
Electrifying Victorian homes is vital to meeting the state's 2030 emissions reduction targets and requires skilled trades and installers.
If you are a licenced plumber or electrician for a particular upgrade activity, there is no additional training required to work in the VEU program. However, to access the rebates and discounts for your customers, you must become or work with an Accredited Provider.
When you work with an accredited provider, it means you:
- can work within the program immediately
- are not responsible for the paperwork associated with doing upgrades
- are not responsible for any program administration that comes with the program.
To connect with an accredited provider, go to the VEU Registry of Accredited Persons and select the 'VEEC activity' drop-down menu for the product you are interested in.
While not mandatory, it is encouraged to become an Accredited Provider to be able to participate directly with your customers. You do not need to work with third parties to offer a discount.
To become an accredited provider, visit Essential Services Commission.
VEEC Calculator accredited persons can use this calculator to ensure that the number of VEECs created for a prescribed activity is correct.
Case study: Steve Dale's experience
Steve Dale is an accredited provider and Founder of Dale Air, a specialist heating and cooling business.
Steve shares his insights on delivering energy-efficient upgrades to homes across Victoria.
Upon joining the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program in 2016, Steve noted it offered his business a unique competitive edge.
“It gave us an edge over the competition because a lot of our opposition didn’t jump on," he said.
“They are now, so it’s going to be hotly contested.
”More of Steve’s customers are looking for energy-efficient products such as fully ducted central systems and reverse-cycle air conditioners.
“The VEU program has become a big talking point because more people are aware of the discounts and rebates,” he explained.
“We always recommend choosing a high-efficiency product over a standard-efficiency product.
“That’s because one, it’s better for the environment and two, it’s better for their back pocket.
"To keep up with customer demand, Steve has had to make sure his staff are up-to-date with their training.
A favourite memory of Steve’s was when a customer delivered him a power bill that was half of his previous bill.
It was a pivotal moment for Steve as he’d achieved what he’d set out to do under the program.
“Most people are happy to pursue energy-efficient upgrades,” he said.
“That’s because they receive rebates in the thousands of dollars, over those in the hundreds of dollars, as with gas.
"For installers looking to join the program there's no doubt that the program drives leads."
