Spring Hill Poultry installed rooftop solar PV, offsetting 77% of the farm’s electricity consumption from the grid.
Through the VEU program they expect to recoup approximately 40 to 50% of the project’s upfront costs.
G.T. Orchards
G.T. Orchards upgraded four 30kW irrigation pumps to higher efficiency pumps with VSD motors. These upgrades are expected to increase the overall system efficiency by 20%, with estimated energy savings of 20,000 kWh per year.
What’s more, G.T. Orchards is expected to recoup around 20% of the cost of upgrading the irrigation pumps, reducing the project payback period by around 2 to 3 years.
Lonsdale Tomatoes
Lonsdale Tomatoes installed thermal screens in their greenhouses, reducing heating requirements by one third and are estimated to save around 1,690 GJ of gas annually. They are also estimated to recoup 25 to 50% of the project costs.
MainStream Aquaculture
MainStream Aquaculture installed a 516kW rooftop solar PV array, reducing their grid electricity consumption by around 11% annually. MainStream Aquaculture also expects to recoup 40 to 50% of project costs.
