This year in July, we introduced a code of conduct setting out minimum standards of behaviour for anyone involved in delivering upgrades under the VEU program.
This means if you want to get an energy efficient product installed, you are being contacted by marketers or door knockers, you have an issue about sales or after-sales processes, or want to raise a dispute, there are new protections in place to support you.
Basically, every part of the VEU program is now covered by the code, but what’s really important is it applies to everyone working in the program.
Accredited providers, installers, companies doing marketing and telemarketing, and any other third party involved in delivering upgrades all must abide by the code.
What’s more, the code is consistent with Australian Consumer Law and current best practice, and there are enforceable penalties for those who do not operate in accordance with the Code.
For more information about the Code and your rights as a consumer go to our about the VEU program page. Or if you’d like to make a complaint under the Code, you can call (03) 9032 1310 or email the VEU team.
