Consultation now open on a new induction cooktop activity and co-payments and warranties for electrification activities

Induction cooktop consultation

The Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA) is commencing consultation on a new induction cooktop activity under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program. The consultation paper provides an overview of induction cooktops, the activity design, emissions savings calculations and draft VEU Specifications.

DEECA seeks your feedback on a range of topics, including:

  • criteria used to determine the list of pre-approved induction cooktops
  • calculations for energy and emissions savings
  • draft specifications
  • any other issues raised by stakeholders.

Visit our Engage Victoria consultation page to provide feedback.

Co-payments and warranties for electrification activities

DEECA is proposing to increase consumer protections and improve consumer outcomes for electrification activities by:

  • introducing a 5-year minimum warranty requirement for all reverse cycle air conditioners (RCAC) installed in residential premises, and heat pump water heaters (HPWH) up to 700L
  • introducing minimum contributions or ‘co-payments’ for all HPWH, RCAC and cold room upgrades (Under activities: Part 1, Part 3, Part 6, Part 43, and Part 44).

The consultation paper sets out these proposals and seeks the views of interested stakeholders on the proposed updates.

Visit the Engage Victoria page for more on co-payments and warranties.
